Community folklore in Bloemfontein, the heart of South Africa

About Us

Likatareng is an indigenous folk music project that brings together musicians, audiences, and the community of Bloemfontein, South Africa for music workshops, lessons, performances, and discussions. Hosted at the 56 Tambo community arts centre, all our activities are fee-free, inclusive, and welcome to all.

What We Do

We give free music instrument lessons so any member of our community can access music education.

We host weekly jam sessions, live music performances, and discussions where members of our community share their stories through music and conversation.

We develop local and indigenous storytelling through music.
